Our goal at Boone UMC is to extend a gracious invitation to all visitors and guests; to extend an invitation to join the church family; and to help new members become connected to Boone UMC in a meaningful way.
Programs to facilitate our goal: Holy Hosts - Our Holy Hosts program attempts to practice intentional hospitality with every one who comes to Boone UMC for worship, study, and fellowship. This program includes Foyer Hosts who greet at the main entrance to our church and Parking Lot Hosts who greet and direct parking in our parking lot.
Mug Ministers - Our visitation team responds to first-time Boone UMC visitors with a home visit within 24 hours of their initial entrance through our doors. During this visit, the individual is given a brochure on the church, a coffee mug with the church logo, and an invitation to visit us again.
Prospective Member Dinners - Three to four times a year, we sponsor dinners especially for those individuals who have been visiting our church for a while. At this time, we introduce them to the leadership of the church, our staff, and the ministries that are offered at Boone UMC. Back to top
How do you become a member of Boone UMC? 1. By receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. This means you have made a decision to become a Christian and commit your life to Jesus Christ. On your profession of faith, we will accept you into our fellowship and offer the sacrament of Baptism.
2. By rededicating your life to Jesus Christ. Maybe you have already trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, but have fallen away from fellowship in Gods Church. Perhaps you have never belonged to a church. With your profession of faith and desire to be a part of our congregation, membership will be offered.
3. By transferring your membership. If you are currently a member of another church (having been previously baptized), you may permit us to transfer your membership to this congregation. A completion of our Membership Class is required. (See information below.)
4. By becoming an affiliated member. Many wish to retain their membership in a home church, but want to participate in the life of this church family while you live in the Boone area.
Church Membership Class: The class is designed for those considering membership for the first time as well as our long time members. The information in the class will be helpful to everyone.
The class consists of four parts and is entitled Covenant People. Under the new class format, we focus on understanding the New Covenant that Jesus referred to in 1 Corinthians 11:25 ( In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me). Part one of the class helps us to understand what the New Covenant in Christ is and what it means today. The remaining three parts of the class focuses on how The Church has lived out the Covenant, how Methodism has lived out the Covenant, and how we are trying to live out the Covenant at Boone United Methodist Church today.
